Garden Tour, 2015

In August of 2015 I went on an "open garden" tour of several gardens around Ithaca, N.Y. The first and biggest chunk of photos here are from that garden tour, which was truly lovely. At the end are two smaller sections, with photos from other places I went in the Ithaca area in 2015.

The "original" photos linked to in this set are reduced size, in fact, so contact me if you want a true original. Also, I would note that most of the photos posted here have been digitally manipulated, but mostly just adjustments to brightness and contrast.
Garden Tour
These are the garden tour photos. The final photo is of a fossil of an extinct species of glass sponge, Uphantaenia chemungensis; it is considered to be "the most important fossil ever found in Tompkins County", according to the sign next to it in the garden.
Adirondacks
These photos were taken in the Adirondacks, during a brief trip in July of 2015. They are from the vicinity of Raquette Lake.
Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge
This last batch of photos are from Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, a wildlife sanctuary at the north end of Cayuga Lake. Actually, the first nine were taken in the garden of a winery on the way to Montezuma, Treleaven. The next two photos are getting close to Montezuma, but not yet there; I think we've got an Osprey (in a human-built nesting platform at the top of a power pole), and an American Goldfinch. The rest are from Montezuma itself, with Great Blue Herons, Cattle Egrets, and Canada Geese, plus a cute little Eastern Kingbird that posed for me.
