Dudleya spp.

Family: Crassulaceae.

Type: Perennial plants.

Leaves: Succulent leaves, often very pale, arranged in rosettes. The pale coloration reflects light to reduce heat load, while the succulence is for retaining water. Beach environments tend to be extremely dry because of both the wind and the salt spray.

Fruit & Flower: Flowers are very small, arranged in small inflorescences.

Miscellaneous: Commonly seen growing on rocky cliffs in coastal areas, and in association with coastal scrub. Also called sea-lettuce.
